Having this supported in browser space might greatly help, but if it happens at all it would come with its own huge problems. We have a highly unhealhty browser oligopoly, and such native support - if it would be just that - would see corporate capture and takeover of fedi space, and the values and culture we hold dear being lost.
New technology trends exist, like #LocalFirst, #P2P (renewed uptake), and #WebAssembly, that could lead to technological paradigm shifts where both the browser hegemony and cloud dominance can be broken. We might come to hybrid decentralization (federated + P2P), having self-sovereign clients in control of their data, interacting over the social graph of the Prosocial web (of apps and services).

I've really been enjoying the little bit of freelance journalistic writing I've taken up this year. Obviously not for the little money it makes, but the motivating feeling of recognition/validation when editors reach out to see if I could cover a given topic.
Which can feel like the polar opposite to the pulling of teeth that's academic manuscript writing.

What do me import from the US?
oil, gas, less and less because we are transitioning, but if we put tariffs, it would be even more expensive for consumers who can't afford higher prices.
Medical equipment: well, same problem, it would just make our costs higher and increase our debt.
The best solution is may be wean ourselves from those products, a long term solution but probably a better solution.
Any phone can be a folding phone if you fold it hard enough.
